It’s Good to be Alive and Present

Are you truly able to live in the present? Many of us struggle with this.

Some people feel trapped by their past. They carry unhealed wounds from being hurt by others, or regrets over their own mistakes burden them and they can’t forgive themselves enough to move forward.

Healing from the past starts with confessing (agreeing with God) concerning our wrongs and accepting forgiveness in our souls. It also involves forgiving others before God—releasing the “debts” we feel like people owe us. This work isn’t always easy, and it may require support from a trusted friend or spiritual leader, but it is ALWAYS possible. A resource that may help is Total Forgiveness by R.T. Kendall.

Others obsess about their future. Some get so caught up in their dreams that they lose focus on today, while others are paralyzed by worry about what might go wrong.

Yet, Jesus reminds us that worry adds nothing to our lives (Matthew 6:25-34).

Peter urges us to cast our anxieties on Jesus, who cares deeply for us (1 Peter 5:7).

And Paul encourages us to replace anxiety with gratitude and prayer (Philippians 4:6).

One of the names God gives Himself is “I Am.” He tells Moses, "I AM WHO I AM... I AM has sent me to you" (Exodus 3:14). Jesus also uses “I Am” to identify Himself, highlighting that God meets us in the here and now. He heals us from the past and leads us into the future—but He engages with us fully in the present.

Today, God is with you. Are you with Him?

Being present with God involves receiving Him as our Lord and Healer, letting go of past regrets, and trusting Him with our future. When we are fully present with God, we become able to show up authentically and powerfully for others. A genuine, undistracted presence is one of the greatest gifts we can offer; it can’t be faked and requires a grounded, inner life.

God wants to be with people through you!

Let’s embrace the present with God, for ourselves and for those around us.

With you,
~ Coach Tom
